If you’re thinking about second date questions or even third date questions, then we would definitely be friends IRL! I love the proactive approach to dating because you get much more out of it! And thinking about questions you want to ask a person means you’re a pretty cool cucumber in my eyes! The question is, are you game enough to try these second date questions?
The questions listed below are a product of some epic research conducted in the 1990s. They are called the “36 questions that lead to love” developed by psychologists Arthur Aron, Elaine Aron, and other researchers. The idea was to see if two strangers could create an intimate connection by asking each other a series of increasingly personal questions. The questions can lead to a deep relationship between strangers, which can cause them to fall in love, oh la la.
How to Use the Second Date Questions
If you’re currently wondering how you can bring up “36 questions that lead to love” with your date without sounding like a crazy person, fear not. You can absolutely just pick your favorite ones and bring these up casually in conversation on the date. You don’t have to do the whole lot at once unless you really want to (more on that below). These questions will keep you busy for quite a few dates. So, if you’re here for second date questions, grab your pen (do people still write stuff down anymore…) or snap some pictures of the ones you want to ask. You can also grab a super handy free printable of all 36 by clicking the image below.
Okay, so if you want to enact the same experiment on a date, you obviously need to get the other person on board. Depending on how the first date went, you’ll have a pretty good idea of how open they are. If they seem receptive, ask them if they would be keen to try a fun experiment. Keep it light-hearted and casual, so they don’t get freaked out. You can also say that it’s a shortcut to intimacy.
On the other hand, some people might not feel as comfortable as others to open up in this way, and that’s okay. This might not be for them. If that’s the case, try the approach above where you just ask them a few of the questions (sneaky sneaky, they’ll never know *wink*)
If you’re both up for the challenge, you can print out the complete list of questions by clicking on the image above or clicking here. You’ll be taken to an instant download that you can print out. I recommend cutting out the squares so you can pop them in your purse/wallet for the date. You can also place them in the middle of the table and take turns reading them. The questions gradually get more intense as you work through them, so make sure you go through them in order.
